Sanjay Dutt , who was suppose to return to jail on 19 February after his parole extension ended, has been granted yet another extension and will now return to serve his remaining sentence on 21 March.
Dutt has been granted parole extension second time in a row. He had sought both the extensions on the grounds of his wife’s ailment.
The actor left Yerwada jail on 21 December after a parole of 30 days was approved by the Pune Police. However, by the end of 30 days he asked for an extension stating that his wife Maanyata Dutt is severely ill and has been admitted to hospital and was granted an extension till 19 February.
But, it seemed that Dutt still wanted more time to nurse his ailing wife as the actor filed for another parole extension on 10 February. And according to a CNN IBN report the actor has been granted the second extension today and is now expected to return to jail on 21 March.
Dutt’s wife has reportedly been diagnosed with a tumour in the liver and has shown symptoms of a heart ailment. Maanyata was admitted in Global Hospital, Mumbai in January where she was undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr Ajay Chaughule, a senior heart and cardio thoracic surgeon.
Dr Ajay Chaughule had earlier told PTI that, “We are doing complete investigation for everything for some problems she has… There are lots of tests that she will have to undergo..”
Dutt has been convicted under the Arms Act for his involvement in the 1993 serial blasts case.
