After recording the biggest opening of 2018 with Baaghi 2, Disha Patani is all set to join Sundar C’s upcoming historical saga, Sangamithra. Patani was roped in to play the role of a warrior princess in the big-ticket film after Shruti Haasan opted out of the project. Patani, who is familiar with martial arts, will learn sword-fighting for this multi-starrer. The film was announced in 2017 with Shruti as the leading face. After Disha’s entry, the makers had put the historical drama on backburner. However, as per the latest update, the film is about to start rolling. “The film will be on the lines of SS Rajamouli’s period-drama Baahubali and will release in two parts. Shooting will take place in Hyderabad, on sets very similar to Baahubali. It will be filmed on a grand scale and if everything goes according to plan, the first part will be unveiled next year,” a source told Mumbai Mirror. The project also features Tamil stars Jayam Ravi and Arya in important roles. It has been revealed that the makers wish to release the film in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The source also added that Patani has been asked to block a big chunk of dates for a year so that the shooting can be completed in Hyderabad. The film’s first poster was launched in Cannes 2017 and the film is expected to roll out July 2018 onwards.
