Sameer Wankhede moves Bombay High Court to quash ED case against him of demanding bribe from SRK in Aryan Khan arrest

Sameer Wankhede, Indian Revenue Service office and former zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has moved to Bombay High Court to dismiss the ED case against him of demanding a bribe from megastar Shah Rukh Khan of Rs 25 crore in son Aryan Khan’s arrest in Cordelia cruise ship drugs case. He has approached the High Court through advocate Karan Lalit Jain seeking quashing of the Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) registered by ED and has asked for protection from arrest till the petition is finally heard. The petition is expected to heard on on February 15 by a division bench of Justices PD Naik and NR Borkar. Sameer Wankhede ‘s history Wankhede made news when he was heading the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Mumbai zone two years back. Around that time, the ex-NCB Zonal Director handled some high-profile incidents including the alleged drug seizure case involving Aryan Khan.

Wankhede landed into trouble after CBI registered a case against him and four others over bribery charges. The complaint was lodged against him for allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore bribe from superstar Shah Rukh Khan. He reportedly asked for the sum to help the actor’s son in the 2021 alleged drug seizure case. Wankhede faced many charges during his tenure with NCB. He was then transferred and an internal inquiry was ordered against him over a few of his controversial cases. Aryan Khan  and the alleged drug case On the other hand, Aryan Khan was given a clean chit along with five others among the 14 accused in the alleged drug case. The NCB’s move came in favour of the star kid due to ‘lack of sufficient evidence’. Aryan Khan was arrested on 3 October, 2021 and was released on bail by the Bombay High Court at the end of the month.
