The movie had made around Rs 26.4 crore on its opening day and earned over Rs 50 crore over the two running days, according to an  IndiaToday report . That is the most any film in 2014 has made on an opening day. However, keeping in mind that the movie had been released in about 5,000 screens across the nation and in 42 other countries, the film’s opening was a disappointment. Daily Mail  had earlier pointed out, “Sajid Nadiadwala’s debut directorial feature grossed far behind Dhoom 3 (Rs 36.32 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express(Rs 33.12 crore).” Moreover, according to the India Today report, Khan’s most successful opening day earnings remained Rs 32.90 crores for his 2012 release of Ek Tha Tiger. Kick stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Gangs of Wasseypur star Nawazzudin Siddiqui, who played the negative role in the film. The screenplay of the film had also been co-written by Five Point Someone author Chetan Bhagat.
