Amid the
chorus of criticism
that has been growing in volume ever since Salman Khan made his unfortunate ‘felt like a raped woman’ comment to describe the toll the gruelling shoot schedule of Sultan took on him, the superstar’s father Salim Khan took to Twitter to ask for forgiveness for the actor. He then added, “I apologise on behalf of his family and friends… to err is human, but to forgive divine.” Salman had made the remark when giving out interviews to promote his upcoming film Sultan. However, he had quickly retracted his comment, saying, “I should not have (said that).” He went on to explain that all he meant was that the shoot had been extremely difficult, and some of the wrestling sequences left him unable to walk. While the superstar found an equal number of messages of
criticism and support
in connection with his rape remark, the National Commission for Women took a serious view of the matter and asked Salman to
issue a public apology
