When two similar looking films release in the same year, they often draw comparisons.

In 2009, two films based on terrorism shared a similar looking universe prompting the audience to compare Kabir Khan's New York with Rensil D'Silva's Kurbaan. History has repeated itself in 2016 as comparisons are being drawn between Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal and Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan.

The two films based on wrestling and set in Haryana drew even more comparisons owing to their lead actors Aamir Khan and Salman Khan respectively. Sultan turned out to be the highest grosser of year, earning over Rs 300 crores and ahead of Neeraj Pandey's MS Dhoni: An Untold Story with a margin of 100%.

Two years ago, the makers of Aamir's science fiction satire PK had to alter the script because of similarities to Christopher Nolan's Inception and Umesh Shukla's Oh My God!.

However, Aamir pointed out on Koffee with Karan Season 5 that the success of Sultan will actually work in favour of Dangal as people, particularly fans of Salman, will watch Dangal at least once to compare both the films.

Now, Salman has reacted to the possibilities of comparison in a tweet. He said that his family watched Dangal and loved it more than they loved Sultan. "Love you personally Aamir, but hate you professionally," tweeted the ever so candid Salman.

This is not the first time that Salman has promoted Aamir's film. He urged his fans to watch Aamir's action entertainer Dhoom 3 in 2013 by plugging it on an episode of his reality show Bigg Boss. While the two are professional rivals, their personal amity is well-documented.

The two actors shared the screen space in Rajkumar Santoshi's iconic comedy Andaz Apna Apna and since then, the audience have been waiting to see the two megastars collaborate again.

While that is not on the cards as of now, it is refreshing to see them promote each other's films every year.
