Baba Siddiqui's iftaar: Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif attend at same time; no SRK hug
The iftaar party by Mumbai-based politico Baba Siddiqui is among the most watched social events of its kind — not just because of the kind of star power he is able to call in on his guest list, but also because these bashes were the scene of the very historical Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan hugs, on not one, but two occasions (in 2014 and 2015) which started the two friends-turned-foes back on the track of reconciliation.
Was it any wonder then, that film industry watchers were waiting with bated breath to see what miraculous reunions would occur at Siddiqui's iftaar party on Sunday, 19 June?
As expected, Siddiqui pulled out all the stops and hosted a pretty grand gathering. Of course, Shah Rukh and Salman were both there. This time, however, they seem to have contented themselves with merely hugging Siddiqui instead of each other.
Moreover, with the two superstars having buried the hatchet for a while now, their interaction (or lack thereof) wasn't the main topic of conversation.
Instead, it was the presence of Katrina Kaif at the same event as former beau Salman.
Katrina looked gorgeous in a swirling anarkali and made a quick appearance at Siddiqui's iftaar. However, she socialised mainly with her Ek Tha Tiger and Phantom director Kabir Khan — or at least so it seemed to the shutterbugs stationed at the spot.
Incidentally, Salman and Katrina were at the party at the same time. Shah Rukh Khan dropped by after Salman had already left.
While the Katrina-Salman sighting drew the most gasps perhaps, there were other celebrity guests in attendance as well, that most stargazers would have been happy to spot. Newlyweds Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover were among them, as were actors like Huma Qureshi and Esha Gupta. Among the other members of the Khan family, Arpita Khan and Ayush Sharma brought along their little tot Ahil.
Apart from Bollywood, there was also a smattering of politicians present at the do. But who would have eyes for the netas when abhinetas there were in plenty!
