Actor Saif Ali Khan, accused of assaulting a South African businessman and his father-in-law, has said he is in talks to resolve the issue. South African businessman Iqbal Sharma had said Saif assaulted him and his father-in-law, a senior citizen, after they objected to the noise the actor and his friends were making in a restaurant. Sharma filed a complaint against Saif after which the actor was arrested and then released on bail. In the interview the actor did not divulge any more details about what attempts were being made to talk to the South African businessman and his family. He also refuted the allegation that he had struck Sharma’s father-in-law. “All I know is that, just the idea of hitting out a senior person is something I wouldn’t dream of in a million years,” Saif said. The actor also admitted that he could have handled the issue differently. “I don’t want to sound like a victim. But celebrity of not, I do feel that it should have been handled differently,” he said.
The actor maintains he wouldn’t dream of hitting a senior citizen, but is hoping for a constructive solution behind closed doors.
