Saaho teaser: Prabhas' modern action avatar is a fresh departure from his Baahubali look
Prabhas returns to action in Saaho teaser, though in a modern look.
It was earlier reported that Telugu superstar Prabhas, who got pan-India recognition through SS Rajamouli's war epic Baahubali: The Beginning, will do a multi-lingual film titled Saaho after he wraps up the promotions of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that releases this Friday on 28 April.
While the teaser to the film will be attached with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, the makers released the Telugu teaser on social media a day before the release of the film. After watching the teaser, one can discern that just like the Baahubali franchise, this one is also high on action, scale and visual effects.
While the visual effects lure you into the world of Saaho and add intrigue to the plot in the beginning, they make for a rather tacky end of the one and a half minute teaser. Two mysterious men flying their way through a city that looks as synthetic as a below average virtual reality game just does not help the overall impact.
The teaser could have been better left off at Prabhas who, despite dishing out a rather cheesy 'it's sowtime' one-liner, looks convincing in a modern action avatar. We do not get to see a glimpse of the bad guys but can only hear them in the background as they give testimony to the invincibility of Prabhas' character.
Nonetheless, the teaser comes across as a fresh departure from an overdose of watching Prabhas as Baahubali, since he has been working only on this project for the past five years. The teaser of Saaho suggests that he is not going anywhere from the high octane action arena.
Saaho will be directed by Sujeeth. It is slated to release in 2018 on a date not yet decided, simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam.
