S3 teaser: Suriya's action extravaganza has more swag than his handlebar look

The teaser of Suriya’s S3, the third installment in the franchise mass entertainer Singam series was released on You Tube on Monday evening. In an hour’s time, the producers of the film — also Suriya’s cousin — KE Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green tweeted:

Suriya’s S3 teaser is a loud, action packed entertainer, where the hero Durai Singam. who is a cop, shouts at the top of his voice in solid punch lines. For the first time, it has Singham playing an international cop in high octane non-stop action and chase scenes. Shruti Haasan and Anushka Shetty have blink-and-miss appearances in the teaser.  The entire teaser is built around Suriya spotting a fierce angry look along with his famous Singam handle bar moustache, while he spews punch lines at top of his voice. Director Hari’s idea is clear; to get back Suriya’s tier 2 and 3 markets in Tamil Nadu, where punch lines work big time. Hardcore Suriya fans want to see him in an action avatar, especially after his last film 24 did not perform up to the expectations. One of the dialogues Suriya says in the teaser is taken from MGR’s landmark blockbuster _Enga Veetu Pillai’_s iconic song lyrics – “Oru Thavaru Seithaal Athai Therinthu Seithaal, Avan Dhevan Endraalum Vida Maaten” (If somebody makes a mistake and knowingly does it, even if he is God he will not be spared). S3 is a costly action extravaganza shot in foreign locales. It is a very important film for Suriya, as he has been going through a bad patch at the box-office. Hari is a director known for mass, action entertainers set in Tamil Nadu small towns, and has a fan following of his own. The film is slated for release on December 16, and the teaser is sure to create a gargantuan opening for the film.
