Russell Crowe and Rami Malek’s Nuremberg film is an urgently important story told in the most brilliant possible way. We all know about Adolf Hitler, but very few know about Hermann Göring and the Nuremberg tribunal. It has been 80 years since the infamous Nuremberg tribunal set up an international law and put the Nazis on trial for unthinkable malicious acts in war. But even today what we learn from it is relevant. The barbaric atrocities done by the Nazis can never be forgotten.
Hermann Göring & how he was responsible for the atrocities?
Hermann Göring was a central figure in the Nazi regime and was responsible for atrocities through his direct involvement in the persecution of Jews, the creation and administration of the concentration camp system, the use of slave labour, and the planning and execution of aggressive war.
He implement the systematic genocide of the Jewish people. In a decree on July 31, 1941, he directed Reinhard Heydrich to develop a plan for the ‘total solution of the Jewish question in the German sphere of influence in Europe’. During World War I, Hermann Göring commanded the famous ‘Flying Circus’ fighter squadron and became a highly decorated flying ace credited with shooting down 22 Allied aircraft.
After the war, he met Adolf Hitler, joined the Nazi Party, and became a leader of the Sturmabteilung (Storm Troop), abbreviated SA. A member of the aristocracy, Göring used his social contacts to convince conservative industrialists that Nazism was the only way to save Germany from communism.
According to reports published in American Experience, in 1936 Hitler gave Göring control over the German economy. He created the state-owned Hermann Göring Works, which prepared Germany for war and created 700,000 jobs, but also lined his own pockets.
About the Nuremberg Tribunal
Going back to history the whole Nuremberg Tribunal was a series of military tribunals, primarily the International Military Tribunal (IMT), held in Nuremberg, Germany, after World War II to prosecute prominent Nazi leaders for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes against peace. It was initiated by Allied powers (the U.S., France, the UK, and the Soviet Union).
About Russell Crowe & Rami Malek’s Nuremberg film
Nuremberg movie will take you through the historic trails that brought Nazi leaders before the world’s judgment, changing the meaning of justice. Directed by James Vanderbilt and starring Rami Malek, Russell Crowe , and Michael Shannon, the film moves beyond courtroom proceedings to confront the moral weight of truth.
The film also makes you believe that even a negative and hugely inhuman, mean and arrogant character like Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe) has a softer and weaker side and that was the job of the psychiatrist, Dougles Kelly (Rami Malek) to tap. And in this process of understanding Hermann, Dougles (Rami Malek) started reflecting on his own life and also understanding the weaknesses of Hermann.
