Rohit Shetty reveals why he didn't keep Ajay Devgn's cameo in Simmba a secret
Even though Ranveer Singh was the protagonist in Rohit Shetty's Simmba, Ajay Devgn's character of Bajirao Singham had an important part to play in the narrative of the cop drama. Talking about the same with Zoom TV, the director spoke about why he did not want to keep Ajay's cameo a secret.
"It (Ajay Devgn's cameo) was always there (in the trailer) because I wanted to prepare the audience that there's Ajay in the film. Because, if you see the film, for the first time, it has happened that a universe has been created. And it's Ajay's universe, it's not Simmba universe. It's Singham's universe, where Singham is the narrator," he said. Ajay's Singham appears in the last part of the film as the narrator and rescues Ranveer's Simmba from the goons.
Another reason to make the cameo public knowledge was because of social media, said Rohit. He explained that after the film's first show, mostly everyone knows what the story is and there is no element of surprise left. He further added that for Simmba, he wanted to the audience to know it was Singham's universe into which a child named Sangram 'Simmba' Bhalerao was born.
Rohit's action entertainer is a remake of Telugu film Temper, originally with Jr NTR in the lead. Also starring Sara Ali Khan, the film has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic box office.
