Robert Downey Jr. recently won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the Oscars 2024 for his performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. And in a recent interview with People’s Magazine, he opened up on a lot of his personal highs and lows. He thanked his wife and attorney for getting him out of his drug addiction.

“I think it’s hard to explain away certain behaviors when there are ways to heal. So I both have a lot of empathy for, and I also am a little bit skeptical about anyone who doesn’t lean into what they can do to improve the state of their compass. That’s all,” said the actor.

His wife Susan added, “ I feel like anyone’s journey, no matter how fraught or positive, whatever it is, it is your journey. There’s nothing we would do differently."

Although the Oscars 2024 night is over, the buzz surrounding the award ceremony seems far from over. Held at the Dolby Theatre in the heart of Hollywood, Los Angeles, the event saw an amalgamation of glitz, glamour, art, and impeccable performances. In one of the notable moments, Robert Downey Jr won his first Oscar for his role in Oppenheimer. As the actor accepted the award, he gave a heartwarming speech, winning the hearts of everyone. While the Internet was already applauding the actor for his acceptance speech, Kareena Kapoor Khan also joined them as she cheered for the actor.

In a first,  Robert Downey Jr bagged the Oscar award for Best Supporting Actor. While accepting the award, the Avengers actor jokingly thanked his ‘terrible childhood’ for the milestone he has achieved. He, then, turned towards his wife Susan and comparing her to a veterinarian, said, “She found me as a snarling rescue pet and loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here, thank you.”
