Riddhima Kapoor Sahni issues apology after being accused of plagiarising design for jewellery brand
Designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, sister of Ranbir Kapoor, who had launched a festive jewellery line under her label, R Jewellery, has apologised for allegedly plagiarising a design of Japanese entrepreneur Kokichi Mikimoto. Riddhima took to Instagram and shared her apology.
DietSabya, the anonymous Instagram account dedicated towards exposing imitations, appropriations and plagiarism relating to fashion, posted a side by side comparison image of Riddhima's design versus Kokichi Mikimoto's diamond and pearl earrings, remarking that the cultured pearls looked identical.

The legendary Kokichi Mikimoto is known in the pearl world as the ‘King of Pearls’. His ‘cultured pearls’ —patented in 1916 — is a benchmark for the industry at large. So, naturally ‘Jewellery designer of the year’, @riddhimakapoorsahniofficial couldn’t help herself from selling the iconic Mikimoto pearl and diamond earrings under her namesake label. Hours later, Riddhima issued a statement, aplogising for not crediting Kokichi Mikimoto, the original creator and founder of luxury pearl company Mikimoto.
Kapoor currently works as the creative head of R Jewellery.
