Yesteryear actress Raveena Tandon is all set to dazzle our screens with her Disney Plus Hotstar upcoming web series, Karmma Calling. While the show will mark Raveena’s second OTT venture, not many know that she was earlier considered for Sushmita Sen starrer Aarya, which would also have been her OTT debut on the streaming platform. However, it seems like destiny had other plans as she instead featured in Netflix’s crime drama Aranyak and now in Karmma Calling. In an interaction with Hindustan Times, the actress, while recalling the time of her digital debut, said that she got some really exciting scripts. However, she wanted to do something that the audience had never seen her in before. “I chose Aranyak to be my digital debut and it really worked for me. The year was really full of awards and the gamble paid off”, she said. Raveena Tandon was the first choice for Aarya Raveena also spoke about meeting directors Ram Madhvani and Nikhil Madhok from the Hotstar and said, “We have to do something (together).’ I’m really waiting to work with Ram. I had to explain to him why I couldn’t do Aarya. Then he understood my reason,” thus confirming that she was indeed approached for the Sushmita Sen starrer family crime drama. Notably, Aarya is not the only major project that Raveena Tandon has turned down in her career. From the 1991 film Phool Aur Kaante to Chhaiya Chhaiya from Dil Se and even Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the actress has said no to some of the most successful films of the present time. Raveena Tandon on working in Karmma Calling The Mohra actress also spoke about her role as Indrani Kothari in the upcoming Disney Plus Hotstar series. “I did not identify with the character because she’s someone completely different and that’s what won me over. A lot of actors are comfortable in playing what they are in real life and they are big successes. However, for me, that does not work. I see to it that every role that I pick is completely different from the last one,” the actress said. For the unversed, Karmma Calling will release on Disney Plus Hotstar on 26 January.
