Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh announced Don 3 with a lot of fanfare and excitement two years back. But the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar has changed everything it seems. If a report by Pinkvilla is to be beleived, the actor has walked out of the third film in the franchise.
There is no confirmation about the development but if it’s true, it could be heartbreaking for the actor’s fans who wanted to see him as the new Don.
What the source said
A source close to the development revealed, “With Dhurandhar’s massive success, Ranveer is very clear about the kind of films he wants to do next. He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space. That’s one of the reasons he has asked Jai Mehta to prepone the shoot of Pralay. Ranveer is keen on fast-tracking the project and bringing it on floors sooner than planned.”
“Now that he has walked out of Don 3, Singh is now personally involved in aligning dates and schedules for Jai Mehta’s film to ensure the film moves quickly,” the source added.
**Farhan Akhtar on Don 3**“The kind of script that we were writing, what I wanted to do with it… It’s too early to speak about it unfortunately so I can’t into into details but it needed this next generation actor in it,” Farhan said in a chat with Raj Shamani on his YouTube channel.
Explaining why he chose Ranveer as Don, Farhan said, “He is mischievous, just full of energy, which is what this needs and he is… I feel when it comes to this aspect of his performance, it’s still untapped. Like I don’t think he has done a role like this.”
