At the media meet of Rangasthalam held on Monday, the makers confirmed that the film has successfully touched the Rs 100 crore gross mark. Naveen, one of the partners of Mythri Movie Makers, said, “Rangasthalam’s box office collections surpassed our expectations. If we expected one crore rupees in a particular territory, distributors say that the film has crossed two crore rupees. We are expecting Rangasthalam to be third highest grosser in the Telugu film industry after Baahubali series. Yes, we happily say that even Chiranjeevi garu’s Khaidi No 150 record would be broken”. But the truth is that we had a comfortable work experience with director Sukumar. After the first schedule of Rangasthalam, we were impressed by Sukumar and signed him to direct a new film for us," said the producer. The producer said that along with him, Ram Charan also wanted Rangasthalam to be a big success overseas. “Our film has grossed $2.5 million and in the complete run, it will touch more than $3.5 million overseas”, added Naveen. Naveen heaped praise on Ram Charan, Samantha Akkineni and Jagapathi Babu. “For me, Ram Charan, Samantha and Jagapathi Babu have given their career best in Rangasthalam. I should also thank cinematographer Rathnavelu and Devi Sri Prasad for their impeccable contribution”. “Among all your films, Arya is my personal favorite. After a long time, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Rangasthalam. I think this is your career-best work, Sukumar”, said leading Telugu producer Dil Raju, who also appreciated Ram Charan for accepting the film. “It’s good to see star heroes like Ram Charan accepting unique characters. Rangasthalam has fetched both commercial and critical acclaim. In Nizam area, the film has touched 10 crore rupees in three days and holds super strong even on Monday. Rangasthalam will comfortably surpass Ram Charan’s previous best Magadheera," said Raju. Rangasthalam’s cinematographer Rathnavelu said Ram Charan does not have any inspiration in the industry. “Ram Charan is a one take artist. For any youngsters, there would be an inspiration. For example, in Tamil, we could see traces of Kamal sir’s performance in Vikram and Suriya but Ram Charan is a natural performer, he doesn’t have any inspiration," said Rathnavelu. The film’s director Sukumar appreciated Ram Charan for playing the hearing impaired ‘Chitti Babu’. “A star hero accepting such a role itself is a big thing. The entire success of Rangasthalam belongs to Ram Charan, he de-glamourised himself with oil and mud to bring authenticity to his characterisation. When I asked him to wear pants, Charan told me that lungi is more comfortable and started living as the character," said Sukumar, who also revealed that Charan had classical music training for eight years. “Ram Charan has a great knowledge in music, he appreciated the nuances of Devi Sri Prasad’s re-recording and called it magical work”. Ram Charan said that he does not accept films to satisfy fans. “First of all, the story should impress me and I never accept films to satisfy fans. Producers of Rangasthalam have told me that there would another event to celebrate the success but right now, I feel happy for the distributors and exhibitors who are in the profit zone because they are the ones who would invest back the gained amount," signed off Ram Charan.
