Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' co-star Amanjot Singh clarifies actor's smoking scene offending the Sikhs: 'Wasn't intentional'

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time and the actors recently celebrated the feat of collecting over Rs 900 at the worldwide box-office. And in a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan, two of the actors of the film Manjot Singh and Amanjot Singh spoke about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s vision and much more. Amanjot said, “I feel Sardars are not made for comedy. Their attitude, nature, their history, it is not made for comedy. I don’t look at Sardars for comedy. Another actor of the film Vikram Bakshi added, “When did you last see a Sikh fictional character so serious? Even we had comedy, but it was situational. Aise bina baat ki comedy nahi hai (It is not nonsense comedy).” On criticism for Ranbir Kapoor’s smoking scene Amanjot revealed, “It was not intentional. It was just a scene where Ranbir was smoking and he turned around to look at the Sardar, so it appeared as if the smoke came on the sardar’s face. It was not planned like that.”

Ranbir Kapoor says some people may have had issues with “Animal”, but the box office success that his latest release has received proves love for a film conquers everything. “ _Animal_ “, a crime action drama, emerged as one of the highest grossing Hindi movies of 2023 despite being labelled as misogynistic and brutally violent by a section of viewers and critics. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film released on December 1. It earned over Rs 900 crore worldwide. Speaking at the success party of “ _Animal_ ” on Saturday night, Ranbir Kapoor expressed gratitude to the director for making him part of his vision. “I want to thank all of you for being here today to celebrate ‘Animal’. It is a film that a section of people had an issue with but I feel the kind of love, success and the numbers (it has received) proves that nothing goes beyond the love for a movie. Nothing goes beyond movies,” the actor said at the event.
