Ranbir Kapoor turns to small screen, will host Nach Baliye 8 season premiere
Ranbir Kapoor will shoot the season premiere of Nach Baliye 8 as the makers look for the co-host of Karan Tacker.
After Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, yet another film superstar is turning to the small screen, but only for one episode.
The Times of India reports that Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in by the makers of the upcoming dance reality show Nach Baliye, as a co-host of the season premiere. The official statement of the makers reads, "Ranbir Kapoor will be perfect for the grand opening episode of Nach Baliye 8. We are very excited and have our fingers crossed to see Ranbir Kapoor set the stage on fire with his dance and stage presence as host! Ranbir is a natural dancer and he will surely set a benchmark for the 10 jodis and prep them up for the entire season. If things goes as planned, we might be shooting later this week."
The Indian Express reports that initially, actor Karan Singh Grover and comedienne Upasana Singh were roped in to host the season. However, their chemistry did not quite click so Grover decided to walk away. The makers then approached Karan Patel to replace his namesake but even that did not work out. Now, Singh is believed to have walked out of the show and Karan Tacker has been finalised as the host of the show.
While the search for his co-host continues, Kapoor will be hosting the season premiere of the show and will also perform on a medley of his popular songs. He is expected to shoot for the episode on 25 March.
Nach Baliye 8 will be judged by actor Sonakshi Sinha, filmmaker Mohit Suri and choreographer Terrence Lewis. The participants of the show include Divyanka Tripathi-Vivek Dahiya, Bharti Singh-Harsh Limbacheye, Sanaya Irani-Mohit Sehgal, Pritam-Amanjot Singh, Dipika Kakkar-Shoaib Ibrahim, Siddarth Jadhav -Trupti, Sanam Johar-Abigail Pande, Mona Lisa-Vikrant Singh and Utkarsha Naik-Manoj Verma. It is slated to air on 2 April onwards.
