Rajinikanth joins Twitter, gets over 25k followers with just one tweet

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth today joined Twitter and with just one tweet garnered over 25,000 followers.

Before he even tweeted his first 140 characters on Twitter he had over 10,000 followers given it is the first time that the actor has joined any social media site.

His first tweet was a simple thank you to his fans but that alone got over 1000 retweets:

The star had earlier confessed that he has no knowledge of technology, so it came as a pleasant surprise for the actor’s fans who populate almost every social media site.

A cultural icon, the normally reticent superstar said he was looking forward to interacting with his fans on Twitter.

“I have always believed that my career graph is a miracle I owe my fans,” Rajinikanth said in a statement after joining Twitter.

“I have been contemplating joining the social media platform for a while to connect with them, hear what they have to say and share my thoughts… I decided to start with Twitter because I felt that the platform is abuzz with all the news and the trends that happen across the globe and I’m told that this is where all the best Rajini one liners are!” he added.

The move to join Twitter comes just a week before his first animated film, Kochadaiiyaan is slated for release.
