Rajinikanth back with a bang: Simultaneous shoots of Kabali and Robot 2 underway

Rajinikanth had a quiet 65th birthday on December 12. The superstar had requested his fans not to celebrate his birthday, due to heavy rains and flooding in Chennai. A spokesperson of the actor said, “As Tamil Nadu is limping back to normalcy after the worst rains in 100 years, Rajini sir has requested his fans to provide relief work.” In fact the superstar was shooting for his upcoming film Kabali in Goa, and if sources are anything to go by, he even refused to cut a cake. Due to a prior commitment he had to travel to shoot in Goa, otherwise he would have been spending his birthday in solitude somewhere in the Himalayas. He opened a sprawling a hall in Kodambakkam, Chennai called Raghavendra Mandapam to sanitary workers. The workers had come from 11 districts in Tamil Nadu to clean up the debris and garbage left behind by the floods. Rajinikanth’s hall is providing complimentary accommodation, food and other basic amenities to these sanitary workers. Meanwhile the Shankar (director of Robot) officially announced on Twitter that the shooting of Endhiran 2 (Robot 2) commences on Decembr 16, in Chennai.

Huge sets have been put up at a studio in suburbs of Chennai for the film. Amy Jackson is one of the heroines and if the buzz is anything to go by, she is playing a female robot. Shankar’s attempt to rope in Arnold Schwarzenegger to play the villain has fizzled out as he asked for a remuneration of $20 million (Rs 120 Crore). A prominent Bollywood star, who is currently out of work is being roped in for the role. Shankar is very particular about this, keeping in mind the Hindi version of the film. A R Rahman is expected to give the music for the film. For the first time in 25 years, Rajinikanth will be doing two films Kabali and Robo 2 simultaneously. Nearly 90 percent of the shoot of Kabali shoot, and the film is gearing for a April 2016 release (tying in with the Tamil new year). Rajinikanth will have two different looks in both the films, and frankly, we can’t wait to see the end result.
