Ajay Devgn’s Raid has proven that his brooding, no-nonsense avatar is just as popular as his comic image. The Raj Kumar Gupta-directed film had a Rs 10 crore opening, beating the first day collection of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety .
After an ordinary start in morning shows, #Raid jumped post noon onwards... Evening/night shows saw super growth... A double digit start for a non-masala, realistic film is heartening... Strong word of mouth should boost numbers on Sat and Sun... Fri ₹ 10.04 cr. India biz.

In Raid, Devgn plays an unbending income tax official who conducts a high-stakes raid on an influential but corrupt politician (played by Saurabh Shukla). The story is inspired by certain real life incidents which took place in Uttar Pradesh in the ’80s. Ileana D’Cruz plays the supportive wife who is exasperated with the packing and moving (owing to her husband’s numerous transfers) but does not let that deter her from her familial responsibilities. The film has received a positive response from the critics for its clean, non-Bollywoodised story.
