Counted among actress Kangana Ranaut’s best films, Vikas Bahl’s 2013 film Queen came as a breath of fresh air, turning out to be a sleeper hit. Revolving around the story of a simple girl, who goes alone on her honeymoon after getting dumped by her fiance a day before her wedding, Queen’s struck a chord with the audience. While the film continues to enjoy a cult status, fans have been demanding a sequel.
After almost a decade of its release, director Vikas Bahl has finally confirmed that the script for the film’s sequel has been locked. This came just months after Bahl announced that Queen 2 was in the works and that Kangana Ranaut would reprise the character of Rani in it.
Queen 2 script locked
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Vikas Bahl shared an exciting update on Queen 2, while speaking on the film’s 10th anniversary.
“It is going to be ten years since Queen ’s release but the number of people who keep asking me about Queen 2 makes me feel like the film was released just yesterday! However, I am happy to say that we have actually finished writing our story. So, yes, the sequel should happen,” he said.
The director further opened up on how he had been feeling the weight of expectations as Queen set the bar too high. He, though, added that he didn’t want to rush it and settle for a mediocre script.
“If I didn’t feel the pressure of matching up to the expectations that people have from the sequel, I would have already made it four years ago just for money,” he added.
Earlier, in October 2023, the filmmaker teased the film’s sequel for the first time. “Every day I wake up with a thought of making ‘Queen 2’, and hopelessly, I will definitely announce it someday,” he said, adding that he won’t take anyone else other than Kangana for the film.
