'Pushpa' director Sukumar's daughter Sukriti Veni Bandreddi receives the National Award in Best Child Artist category for 'Gandhi Tatha Chettu'

Gandhi Tatha Chettu is a film about a 13-year-old girl named Gandhi, who is Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence, who campaigns to protect her grandfather’s beloved tree. The narrative follows her non-violent struggle to save the tree, embodying Gandhian ideals of peaceful resistance. The film premiered at Minsk International Film Festival (Listapad) in November 2024 and at Jaipur International Film Festival during the same month.

Director Padmavathi Malladi’s Gandhi Tatha Chettu gave Sukriti Veni Bandreddi the perfect stage to showcase her talent. Produced by Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar, and Sesha Sindu Rao under Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings, and Gopi Talkies, the Telugu social drama follows a 13-year-old who uses Gandhian principles to protect a village tree. It was released on 24 January 2025.
