Priyadarshan's daughter Kalyani's acting debut in Telugu movie opposite Akhil Akkineni: Confirmed

Famous director Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan will be making her acting debut opposite famous actor Nagarjuna’s younger son Akhil. The actor will star in Vikram Kumar’s next Telugu movie, as was confirmed by the director himself according to an IANS report. Image from Facebook.[/caption] Kalyani finished her higher studies from New York and worked as an assistant director on the Nayanthara and Vikram starrer Irumugan. The audiences and most of the film industry expected Kalyani to follow in her father’s footsteps and go on to become a film technician. However the young star in the making has taken a completely different tangent and expressed her desire to pursue the craft of acting instead, much like her mother Lissy. “I had worked as an assistant with Priyadarshan sir and I have known his daughter since she was a kid. We felt this would be a great launch pad for Kalyani. She is expected to join the sets in ten days’ time,” said Kumar according to the same IANS report.

Akhil — the actor that Kalyani will be cast opposite — on the other hand, has been overtly cautious with his movie choices after the fiasco that was his maiden film, and will be signing this project on after a two year long hiatus.

The director, Vikram Kumar has previously delivered the blockbuster Manam starring the Akkineni star clan which featured actors across several generations from the family. Nagarjuna is said to be personally overseeing the upcoming project as he doesn’t want another disaster in the making.
