Preity Zinta, whose FIR against her former boyfriend and Kings XI Punjab co owner Ness Wadia has created a massive furore, will return to India from the US on Sunday. [caption id=“attachment_1580135” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Preity Zinta (centre) had filed an FIR against Ness Wadia (left) alleging abuse. IBNLive[/caption] She is expected to record her statement to the Mumbai police on either Monday or Tuesday. According to reports on the Times Now television channel, there will be no move to arrest Ness until Zinta’s statement is recorded. After recording her statement, Preity will be asked to recreate the sequence of events. She will also be taken to the venue where incident took place. In her complaint against Wadia, Zinta said that he had abused and threatened her publicly on several occasions, including at the IPL player auction in Bangalore as well as during an IPL match at the Wankhede stadium. Wadia has termed the accusations as “false and baseless”. However in what will come as a blow to his stand, IPL COO Sundar Raman corroborated Zinta’s claim that she had informed him about the incident at the Wankhede Stadium. “There was a mention by Raman in the statement that Zinta had verbally communicated to him about the spat with Ness Wadia on May 30,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve. The IPL Chief Operating Officer’s statement was recorded over an-hour-and-half, Shisve said, adding statements of six witnesses have been recorded so far, including that of a BCCI employee Ankit Baldi. The witnesses were “affirmative” about the “incident having taken place”, the officer said without clarifying whether they were eyewitnesses to the happenings or divulging details of their statements. Earlier the police had said they wanted Zinta to re-record her statement against Wadia. “We want further information on certain points like the exact place they were in when the incident took place, because, we did not find their seats in the CCTV footage. They are seen in the front part of the stadium cheering, but not at the back where the incident allegedly took place” a senior police officer told Firstpost on condition that he not be named. Zinta has remained largely silent, but took to Twitter to debunk rumours that she would be reaching a settlement with Wadia after selling her stake in Kings XI Punjab. Meanwhile Ness Wadia’s father, respected industrialist Nusli Wadia has complained that he has received threat calls from the underworld asking him to leave Preity alone. The family has been provided with enhanced security.
In the case filed by Preity Zinta against former boyfriend Ness Wadia over charges of abuse, the Mumbai police recorded statements of six witnesses.
