Pratyusha Banerjee suicide: Rahul Raj Singh rubbishes prostitution allegations

Rahul Raj Singh has responded to allegations made by the lawyer representing the parents of his deceased girlfriend Pratyusha Banerjee. Neeraj Gupta, the lawyer representing Soma and Shankar Banerjee, had accused Singh of forcing Balika Vadhu actress Pratyusha (who committed suicide on 1 April 2016) into prostitution.

In an interview to BollywoodLife.com, Singh showed the charge sheet which contains the three-minute telephonic conversation between him and Pratyusha which allegedly forced her to commit suicide. Singh claimed that it was her father who dubbed her as a prostitute and ridiculed her for not being able to support her family financially.

Singh maintained that he was with Pratyusha till her last breath and made every possible effort to save her after she committed suicide.

“I gave her mouth to mouth respiration, rushed her to the hospital and did every bit to save her. I handed her body to her uncle. But I could not bear the sight of her parents getting concerned about her in the hospital. Because they were never there when she needed their concern.”

Gupta, the legal representative of Pratyusha’s parents Soma and Shankar Banerjee, made available excerpts of the telephonic conversation to Mumbai Mirror and accused Rahul for abetment of suicide and pushing Pratyusha into prostitution.

However, Singh rubbished the allegations and dubbed it as “a fictional story”. He even called the lawyer “petty” and maintained that he has cooperated with the law at every stage of the investigation. He added that Pratyusha’s parents are just hungry for publicity and defaming not only him but also their deceased daughter who is not alive to defend herself.

Singh said that he had a word with Mumbai Mirror and presented the charge sheet to them. He added that they are likely to publish an apology along with pictures of the charge sheet soon.

“I don’t need publicity. I don’t even mind getting defamed but all these headlines in the newspapers dubbing Pratyusha as a prostitute are something that I have to speak against. I did not address the media yet as I was not in the right state of mind. But now that the truth is out, I am relieved,” said Singh.

Singh confirmed that he was planning to enter the Big Boss house as a contestant.

“I wanted to go there just to voice my side of the story which I am now doing anyway. I would have gone there but not now. I don’t think it is the right time.”
