Poster Boys, Daddy combined box office opening at Rs 3 crore; Stephen King's It sets global record
This Friday, Poster Boys, Daddy, and Stephen King's It the Indian screens. While the first two made a meager 3 crore collectively, the latter broke records.
This Friday, Poster Boys, Daddy, and Stephen King's It hit the Indian theatres, giving movie-goers ample options to choose from. The films were expected to witness lower occupancy due to Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan's ongoing run at the screens.
The Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade-starrer Poster Boys is a remake of a Marathi film and opened to a mild response.
It garnered Rs 1.75 crore at the box-office on the first day, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The film is a vasectomy comedy and packs a decent punch. However, a weak plot might lead to an eventual dip in collections.
Suprisingly, Arjun Rampal's Daddy seems to have been surpassed by Poster Boys. The Arun Gawli biopic managed to rake in just about Rs 1.25 crore according to Koimoi.com. Given that the promotional buzz around Daddy was way higher than for Poster Boys, the numbers do make you take a second look. A weak storyline is being touted as the reason for the fizzle, whereas Arjun Rampal's portrayal is still garnering praise from critics.
Here's what Taran Adarsh had to say:
#PosterBoys Fri ₹ 1.75 cr. India biz... Should gain momentum on Sat and Sun.
