Poster Boys, Daddy box office collection: Films gain traction on Day 2; earn Rs 4 crore each

The release of Arjun Rampal’s Arun Gawli biopic Daddy clashed with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade’s Poster Boys  on Friday, 8 September. While both the films raked in more or less the same amount of money on Day 1 , the pattern remained fairly similar on day 2, as well, except that the growth rate was much higher. Images from Twitter.[/caption] Poster Boys had garnered Rs 1.75 crore at the box-office on the first day, while the collections of Daddy were pegged at Rs 1.25 crore. On the second day, the vasectomy comedy, which packs a decent punch but falls short of a good plot, made Rs 2.40 crore. The significant rise in its collections were a result of a 37 percent growth, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Here’s what Adarsh had to say:

Ashim Ahluwalia’s biopic ,too, exhibited similar progress, earning Rs 2 crore on the second day of its release, as per a report in  India Today . This makes its collection roughly Rs 4 crore. The biographical film sees Rampal playing a real-life character for the first time in his career. Although Rampal garnered praise for his portrayal, the storyline was deemed weak by many. One of the reasons why both the films started on a lukewarm note on Friday is due to Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Baadshaho’s current hold over the theaters.
