I have to sing. I don’t care what they say. I love to sing. People don’t necessarily employ me for my singing. But I chose to sing. I’m looking forward to it enormously. It was criminal how much fun we had the first time. I think the world is ready for Mamma Mia 2 and I believe the world is ready to hear me sing once more,” said Brosnan, according to a report by USA Today. Brosnan’s character Sam was one of three lovers from Meryl Streep’s (Donna) past. Mamma Mia! was based on the ABBA-filled theater musical. The actor sang frequently, most notably in the solo parts of the songs ‘SOS’ and ‘When All Is Said and Done’. The musical made $610 million worldwide, making sure Brosnan was in good company and at the end of a very successful and profitable film. Donna’s other two lovers were essayed by Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård, and they too did their own singing for the film. However it was Brosnan that received the most flak amongst the three, as he went on to earn most of the critical sniping and a Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor. — With inputs from PTI
