Raveena Tandon is one of the Bollywood personalities who spoke strongly against Papon's behavior. She called the singer's actions "disgusting, shameful, and perverse."
Disgusting! Shameful!Perverse! This man Papon should be arrested ! The girls parents succumbing to pressure ! The explanations given are ridiculous! Haven’t felt such anger and shame to see this happen and some on tv debates actually defending the act !

Many conveyed their disbelief after seeing the video and condemned Papon's actions unequivocally.
"#Papon gave a peck on the girl's lips, it is guru-shishya parampara, what is wrong in that?? Consent of child is not important." - Papon's lawyer Gaurang Kanth tells Times Now I CANNOT believe this. Just cannot. — Sanyukta (@kyahaibae) February 23, 2018
If anybody behaved with my daughter the way #Papon did with the teenage girl I would slap him several times in such a way that no one dared behave that way again — Suchitra Krishnamoorthi (@suchitrak) February 23, 2018
A sleeping man’s foot touched Zaira Wasim, He apologized her on the spot but still facing Molestation charges. A little girl never gave her consent, #Papon literally forced himself on her. But in this case, some people supporting Papon. What if Zaira & Papon were not Celebrities? — Anshul Saxena (@AskAnshul) February 23, 2018
I am glad media channels are discussing the #Papon issue - let us also discuss the kind of abuse street children face!! Recently we also saw the case of the brutal rape & murder of 8year old Asifa - are children safe? Predators on the streets, predators pretending to be mentors — Shehzad Jai Hind (@Shehzad_Ind) February 23, 2018
You're a celebrity. The child is a contestant who's looking to get a toehold in your industry. You CAN'T grab and kiss her. EVEN if that's your idea of affection #Papon — Padmaja joshi (@PadmajaJoshi) February 23, 2018
Per usual in awe of the patience of women on my TL slowly, precisely explaining, over and over, why #Papon kissing a child on the lips from his position of power is wrong. — Pragya Tiwari (@PragyaTiwari) February 24, 2018
Gauhar Khan slammed Papon and slammed Papon's defense of himself.
Wasn't smothering a child's face with your palm rubbing color all over it for 4 secs enough as fatherly love, that u had to pull the child's face then to strategically peck her on the lip??? There was no wrong camera angle or the child moving her face mistakenly BTW 🙄😡#papon👎 — Gauahar Khan (@GAUAHAR_KHAN) February 23, 2018
Papon may label it as his idea of affection for his mentees but his was clearly a bad touch and made the child uncomfortable. He only stopped when he was told that the act was being relayed on Facebook live. His reaction hints that he’s a serial offender. — Sonam Mahajan (@AsYouNotWish) February 23, 2018
Film director Ashoke Pandit had some choice words for Papon.
If a father doesn’t stand against his daughter’s abuse by #Papon in d name of “fatherly love”, then the father also should be tried for being an accomplice to wrong touch. — Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) February 23, 2018
Sexual abuse cannot be ignored in the name of fatherly love or liberal society. What #Papon did is a legit case of child sexual abuse. Not only he, but the adults who stood around being silent accomplices of this abuse should be tried for this crime. — Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) February 23, 2018
Director Farah Khan too weighed in on the controversy.
I know #Papon he is good guy. But there is no doubt that when I saw the video it made me feel uncomfortable. I think he didn't mean to do it but if it was my daughter I would not like it. I think people should not touch other people's children, just to show affection: Farah Khan pic.twitter.com/dKGzPWRrpC — ANI (@ANI) February 24, 2018
There were also those who came out in defense of Papon.
When that girl is cool about it and she didn't object then why the people are so concerned? Seems, our people don't mind their own business. They have to interfere in everything. #Papon — Prashant Nigam🇮🇳 (@prashantempires) February 23, 2018
.#papon kiss a kid, I don't know the intention behind it hence no comment from me unlike TRP hungry media BUT my larger Question is, why no outrage when a Woman kiss, hug a minor boy in shows? Are we trying to say Women never molest kids?? Think about it and be gender neutral — #GauravPradhan 🇮🇳 (@DrGPradhan) February 23, 2018
"Eagerly waiting to begin the shoot," says Kiara Advani, who also celebrates her birthday today.
Amazon Prime India also revealed that Narappa, Sarpatta Parambarai and Malik were watched by its subscribers in over 3,200 towns and cities in India as well as in over 150 countries and territories globally.
Aadhaar was gearing up for a release earlier this year when it was abruptly 'pulled out' a week before its opening, said director Suman Ghosh.
