Panipat teaser poster: Ashutosh Gowariker announces next film with Kriti Sanon, Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker took to Twitter to announce is next project. Titled Panipat, his next directorial venture will see Kriti Sanon, Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in leading roles. The teaser poster of the historical drama was also released on 14 March.

Historical dramas have always fascinated me.
This time it is a story about what led to the Third Battle of #Panipat.

The film will depict the story behind third battle of Panipat, which was fought between the Maratha empire and the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali. There were three battles of Panipat in total which shaped Mughal history and rule in the country. The teaser poster heralds the beginning of a great war with visuals of a bejeweled sword, saffron flags and mighty armies headed towards a clash. Period films are considered to be Gowariker’s forte. He has delivered massive hits Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar in the same genre. Although his last film, Mohenjo Daro, tanked at the box office, the expectations from Panipat are already seem high. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on 6 December, reports Hindustan Times. As of now, there is no official word on who’s playing what in the film.
