Paltan: Director JP Dutta's daughter Nidhi to assist him in producing war film
JP Dutta's daughter Nidhi will reportedly be assisting the director in his next war drama Paltan. Nidhi had intially planned to take up acting.
Director-producer J.P. Dutta who has helmed some epic patriotic war movies like Border and LOC: Kargill has passed on his filmy genes to his elder daughter Nidhi. Nidhi will be assisting her father in his next war drama Paltan, as per a Times of India report.
Initially, Nidhi had plan to venture into acting but has now decided to take charge of her father's film.
Therefore, the film shall not only mark the director's return to filmmaking after 11 years, but will also be an important milestone for his daughter.
While confirming the news, Nidhi told Times of India that she was really young when her father was belting out films like Border, Refugee and LOC: Kargill.
However, she now thinks it is time for her to take charge and also learn the art of filmmaking from her father.
Dutta had last directed the 2006 film Umrao Jaan which had Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in leading roles. Known to replicate grand battles on screen with expertise, Dutta is still finalising the cast of the Paltan. The film will reportedly have an ensemble cast. It will go on the floors later this year, and is scheduled for a summer 2018 release.
