Pahlaj Nihalani's removal as the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Friday came out of the blue and made him perfect fodder for trolls on social media. Nihalani's three-year term was due to be completed in January 2018. Nihalani is well-known to court controversy for his views on film censorship, from removing James Bond's kissing scenes to initially banning Lipstick Under My Burkha for being a "lady-oriented film".
