'Over the moon with FIFA': Bollywood gears up for World Cup '14

With the FIFA World Cup 2014 all set to kick off in a few hours from now, Bollywood is all set to join the action. Agencies[/caption] Whether it is to show their genuine interest in the game or attract publicity from the current World Cup mania, many stars have taken to social media to share their ’excitement’. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan created headlines by tweeting about the World Cup. Shah Rukh said he will remain glued to his television to watch all the games.John Abraham has gone a step further by agreeing to be a part of “Cafe Rio”, a prime-time show on Sony SIX where he will interact and analyse matches with “some of the greatest legends of football”. “I am totally ready (to live the magic). I have football in my DNA. It is something I have grown up playing and not just me, I’m going to get the whole of India to live the magic with me,” John told IANS over phone from Mumbai. “This year, thankfully, there are all convenient slots of World Cup games - 9:30 pm, 12:30 am, 3:30 am and 6:30 am IST. As many as 64 matches are in the 9:30 pm slot and some of the big matches too, including one with Germany vs Portugal. It’s going to be great viewing experience for the Indian audience,” he added. A report in NDTV shows which team some of the Bollywood stars will be supporting and which player is their favourite. Lionel Messi would arguably be the most popular player among Bollywood stars with Tiger Shroff, Prachi Desai and Saqib Saleem naming him as their favourite player. Cristiano Ronaldo was Manish Paul’s and Amit Sadh’s favourite. Moreover, with Tiger Shroff, Prachi Desai, Bipasha Basu and Saqib Saleem supporting Argentina, the team seems to be the clear favourite, although Brazil is a close second.
