With the Golden Globe awards behind us, the most awaited nominations are now of the 88th Academy awards, or the Oscars, for 2015. In a live-streaming event, the Oscar nominations were announced by Guillermo Del Toro, Ang Lee, John Krasinski and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs.

The ceremony begans with nominations in technical categories. Nominations for the major prizes including best picture were expected towards the end of the roughly 15-minute announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
