Today is Krishna Janmashtami, a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna. The day brings in lots of colours and music to our life. Firstpost lists out nine songs that you must listen to on this day. 1. Bluff Master - Govinda Aala Re Aala A Superhit Hindi song from Bollywood film, Bluff Master, 1963. The Shammi Kapoor, Saira Banu, Pran, Lalita Pawar starrer gained popularity with this song. The music created by Kalyanji Anandji, is still the first song that comes to ones mind when thinking of Janmashtami.
2. Muqabla - Teen batti wala govinda aala This song from Muqabla that released in 1969 creates an ambience of the matka-phor celebration. Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi like always did not fail to create magic with this song too.
3. Khuddar - Mach Gaya Shor Sari Nagri Re Coupled with amazing visuals, this Amitabh Bachchan starrer reminds us of Krishna’s tricks on Radha, his unusual ways of pulling her legs and his wittiness that makes us smile every time we listen to it.
4. Satyam Shivam Sundaram - Yashomati Maiyya Se Bole Nandlala This song from the 1978 film Satyam Shivam Sundaram went on being replayed even years after the movie’s release. The Shashi Kapoor-Zeenat Aman starrer became an all time favourite with this song. The song is Krishna’s complain to his mother about he being dark, while Radha being fair. It portrays the innocence of Krishna.
5. Badla - Shor mach gaya shor dekho aaya maakhan chor This popular Hindi song has the background score playing as ‘Govinda ayo re’. The Shatrughan Sinha starrer went on to add colour to the loved and much celebrated janmashtami.
6. Kala Bazar- Ala re Govinda The Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Farha & Kimi Katkar starrer recreated the old magic of Govinda ala re once again. The music of the Gokulashtami song from Kala Baazar was created by Rajesh Roshan.
7. Lamhe - Mohe Chedo Na This masterpiece of Lataji recreates the Krishna-Radha bond. The Sridevi-Anil Kapoor starrer brings out the love-hate relationship between Krishna and Radha, where Radha pleas Krishna not to tease her.
8. Vaastav - Har taraf hai ye shor aaya gokul ka chor This blockbuster movie starring Sanjay Dutt shows him in a playful mood, like that of Krishna. The handi-phor is beautifully portrayed in the visuals. Jatin Lalit’s music brings back the traditional playful Janmashtami.
9. Hello Brother - Chandi Ki Daal Par The song that came as a breakthrough during the 90’s was probably the best part in the movie. Superstar Salman Khan singing it made the song even more special.
