Mumbai: Director Anil Sharma says his 2001 hit movie “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” will make people remember him for a century and he will not make a sequel to the blockbuster on the silver screen only for earning money. The film starred Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel in the lead. “If today I remake ‘Gadar’ I can understand it will be very successful. But only for the sake of business I will not spoil my ‘Gadar’ because this film will be remembered even after 100 years for Sunny Deol and myself. So I will not go for ‘Gadar 2’ until and unless I get that strong story,” Sharma said here Thursday at the teaser launch of his next film “Singh Saab The Great”. The director accepts that a sequel can make good business and “Gadar” sequel will generate curiosity among the audience, and thus generate great business. “Second part is always a good business proposition. I know the level of curiosity will be very high if I would make ‘Gadar 2’. But ‘Gadar’ was such a big hit, probably the biggest blockbuster hit of Indian cinema. “So much is talked about box-office numbers these days but it was the first film that crossed 100 crore rupees in 2001, in today’s times it’s a thousand crore,” said Sharma. Anil is currently gearing up for the release of his directorial “Singh Saab The Great”, starring Sunny Deol in the lead. IANS
