Nine trailer: Prithviraj Sukumaran plays protective father in horror thriller, also starring Prakash Raj

The trailer of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming horror thriller _Nine_ or _9_ released on 9 January, months after the first look poster was unveiled in March 2018. The clip opens to a birthday celebration with the actor wishing his son Adam, “Happy birthday.” Things take an ominous turn as Adam is expelled from school and is later shown experiencing dark, nightmarish visions. The brief promo clip does not reveal much about the plot. One will have to watch the film to know what exactly haunts the young boy, described as exceptionally intelligent for someone his age by Prakash Raj’s character. The film includes exciting chase sequences, and also features Mamta Mohandas and Wamiqa Gabbi.

The film has been co-produced by Sony Pictures International and Prithviraj Productions, which the actor co-founded with his wife Supriya. According to News Minute, 9 marks the entry of Sony into Malayalam films as a distributor. The trailer is scheduled to be aired simultaneously across 15 Malayalam TV channels at 9 pm on 19 January.

Directed by Jenuse Mohamed with music composed by Shaan Rahman, Nine will release in cinemas on 7 February.
