Netflix's 'Inspector Zende' actor Manoj Bajpayee on losing the National Award to Shah Rukh Khan: 'It's a useless conversation because...'

What makes Manoj Bajpayee so memorable, you ask? It’s his art and his captivating presence that has kept us at the edge of our seats for decades. His characters range from the charmingly flawed to the downright terrifying, but each is rooted in that ever-charming, almost mythical quality that only Manoj Bajpayee can bring to life.

The actor was seen in Netflix’s ‘Inspector Zende’ and also in the theatrical release Jugnuma. In an interview, when asked about losing the National award to Shah Rukh Khan for Jawan, Bajpayee said, “It is useless conversation because it is gone. When it comes to Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, yes, it is a very special film in my filmography and so was Joram.”

His take on the National Awards

Manoj Bajpayee said, “It’s not just about national awards. It’s about all the awards that were revered. They should seriously think about how they are operating.”

The actor continued, “Because it is not about my respect, I take care of my respect very cautiously when I’m choosing a film and I’m very responsible to the actor that I am. But each and every organisation have to think of themselves, that’s not my job. If somebody else is losing their respect, they should think about it.”

Recently, he was seen in Netflix’s ‘  Inspector Zende’. And in an interaction with Humans of Cinema that also had Anurag Kashyap and Piyush Mishra in the panel, the actor was quoted saying, “Acting ko leke jitni fallacy ab badhi hai na, voh irritating bhi hai, annoying bhi hai, and also, humiliating hai. It is humiliating for him who has been trained as an actor and has been acting for so many years.”
