Aditi Rao Hydari has been garnering accolades for her portrayal of Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Netflix’s magnum opus Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.
In a recent interview, the actress spoke about entering SLB’s set for the first time during Padmaavat and getting completely mesmerised by the director’s world. “I finished shooting a love story with Mani Ratnam and three days later, I was on Sanjay’s set. I walked onto the set and of course, I was mesmerised because it was just like, ‘What is this world?’ Incredible. I was very overwhelmed,” said Aditi while talking to Humans of Bombay.
Her first scene was with Ranveer Singh, whom she has known since their earlier days in the industry. “Ranveer said to me, ‘Adu, you know you’re living the dream, right?’ Moving from Mani Ratnam’s set to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s set, he shook me, and I realised, ‘You’re right, you’re right.’ It was really, really incredible’,” the actress added.
Aditi Rao Hydari also opened up about working with Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar and called him an incredible actor. “But working with Ranbir was mad. He’s incredible, so incredible. He’s one of my favourite actors and he’s so present. He can convince you of anything,” said the Delhi 6 star.
The actress also opened up about sharing screen space with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir. She said, “I was literally jumping up and down when I was told that I would be doing Wazir. I never thought I would get an opportunity to work with him. It was incredible to be around him. I can’t even describe how insane it was. He has this presence… as soon as he walks into a room, you feel like standing up.” She added, “But he’s also got this amazing childlike excitement when he’s on the set. He was on a wheelchair throughout that film, and he used to whir around on it on the set. It was just so amazing to see him like that.”
