Netflix’s ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ actress Fatima Sana Shaikh who was also seen in Metro In Dino, has spoken about toxicity in relationships and equality in love. In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actress said, “I’m living my love life through the films that I’m doing.”
She added, “Equality in a relationship is very important. I don’t have to be a man, I would love to be feminine and the man doesn’t have to be me. But there is a synergy that is important to maintain. I don’t want my partner to change me and I wouldn’t want him to change because we got attracted to each other because we were ourselves.”
Men in toxic relationships?
There are men also who are in a toxic relationship. The unfortunate fact is that when they come out with their stories, they’re ridiculed. That’s also because of patriarchy because boys are not supposed to cry. They can’t complain as they are supposed to have this front that ‘I take care of the family. I’ll take care of everybody. I can’t hurt. I’m not weak because it’s not accepted’. So, it’s not that only women are facing the wrath of patriarchy, even men are.
Fatima Sana Shaikh is riding high on the success of Metro In Dino and Netflix’s Aap Jaisa Koi. In an interview with Hauterrfly, the actress revealed how her longest relationship ended because of her choice of clothes.
Shaikh said, “For some reason, it comes down to clothes for a lot of men. “Both of us had broken up, and we decided not to be together because it was his conditioning.”
The actress added, “It wasn’t like my partner would decide don’t wear this, but he would come aggressively and feel that I cheated on him. Intellectually, he could understand everything and state how he understood everything but had the gutted reaction and confessed to not knowing what to do about it.”
