Ness' father Nusli Wadia alleges threat calls from underworld
Ness Wadia's father and top industrialist Nusli Wadia alleged he had received threat calls from the underworld based abroad.
A complaint over this alleged underworld threat was filed by an associate of Nusli Wadia on Tuesday evening at the NM Joshi police station in central Mumbai.
According to reports, the calls were made from five to six different numbers on Monday evening. A text message was also sent after the calls.
No extortion demands have been made, said the police. Nusli Wadia has alleged that a don warned Wadia to "back off or business will be targeted."
The complaint has been forwarded to the anti-extorion cell and the police are investigating the case. Currently, the identity of the persons who made the threat calls is not known. Reports say that there is a chance of Wadia withdrawing the complaint registered.
The complaints by Wadia come amid a furore over an FIR filed by actress Preity Zinta against his son, Ness Wadia, saying that he had abused her in public and 'outraged her modesty' and slandered her reputation.
Preity had made the complaint in relation to an incident inside Mumbai's Wankhede stadium during an IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and the Chennai Super Kings.
In her complaint letter to the Mumbai police, Preity had alleged her ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia molested her on numerous occasions and she had even sent him an email asking him not to degrade her in this way.
In response, Ness had issued a statement saying, "I am shocked at the complaint and the allegations made against me and they were totally false and baseless."
