Natalie Portman is not a fan of method acting, says 'It's a luxury women can't afford'

In a career spanning two decades, Natalie Portman has gotten into a whole host of characters. Her movies have gained cult status and the actress holds a successful acting career, earning numerous prestigious prizes and respect in the industry. Natalie has remained devoted to her craft and has given some memorable films including blockbusters like Star Wars, prequels or dramas like Black Swan, and May December. Portman also won an Oscar for her role in Black Swan and was later nominated for her performance in Closer. While Natalie Portman has been receiving accolades and appreciation for her performances, the actress recently revealed that she doesn’t believe in method acting. In a recent conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Portman, while speaking about various roles that she has portrayed, said that she believes that “method acting is a luxury that women usually can’t afford.” “I’ve gotten very into roles, but I think it’s honestly a luxury that women can’t afford. I don’t think that children or partners would be very understanding of, you know, me making everyone call me ‘Jackie Kennedy’ all the time,” she said. Noting that she would not be able to do justice with method acting, Natalie explained that it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t do serious preparation. From training as a ballet dancer for months to getting into her character for Black Swan to working on her diet to get into the skin of her character, the actress said that she is still able to separate herself from the character she’s playing during production. Natalie Portman at the Golden Globes Natalie Portman, who has already taken home the Best Performance by an Actress in the Motion Picture Drama trophy in 2005 for Closer and then again the Best Performance by an Actress in Supporting Role in 2011 for ‘ _Black Swan_ ’, was nominated for the fifth time for her role in Netflix’s ‘May December’.

Besides having a memorable red carpet moment, she was also one of the star nominees at the ceremony. While the Best Actress award ultimately went to Emma Stone for ‘Poor Things’, Portman presented the award for Best Animated Feature alongside fellow actress Florence Pugh to ‘The Boy and the Heron’.
