Narcos Season 3 teaser chronicles rise of newer, deadlier Cali Cartel post Escobar's death

Pablo Escobar is back — or the figurative ghost of a drug lord is. [caption id=“attachment_3815561” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  A still from the trailer.[/caption] For those who don’t follow the series, Narcos is set in Colombia and follows the life of the drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. But now that Escobar is dead, as seen in Season 2, what will happen to the drug market? Season 3 takes us to the city of Cali in Colombia and shifts focus from Escobar’s Medellín. The Cali cartel develops into a network that was, in time, larger and more profitable than anything the country’s most famous narco-terrorist ever created. Dealing with the Cali cartel is a completely different experience that dealing with Escobar. The Cali Cartel, led by four powerful godfathers, operates much differently than Escobar, preferring to bribe government officials and keep its violent actions out of the headlines. “While the world was focused on Escobar, Cali became the biggest cocaine cartel in history,” says Javier Peña in the teaser. Looks like the DEA will have its work cut out for it in the new season. This will be the first time Narcos is returning without Wagner Moura’s portrayal of Escobar. Will the series still hold the same charm? Pedro Pascal returns as DEA Agent Javier Peña, with this season also featuring Damian Alcazar, Francisco Denis, Alberto Ammann, Pepe Rapazote, Matias Varela, Michael Stahl-David, Matt Whelan, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Kerry Bishe, and Arturo Castro. The fourth season has already been shown the greenlight by Netlfix, so it looks like the cast and crew are confident that it will do well. Season 3 premiers on 1 September:
