Narcos fans rejoice! The highly anticipated show is making a comeback with its second season on Netflix on 2 September 2016. The story chronicled the cat-and-mouse chase between drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and DEA agent Steve Murphy, and won critical acclaim and multiple Golden Globe nominations for its first season. The second season’s trailer sets up a grand manhunt led by agents Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) and Javier Peña (Pablo Pascal), and Holbrook’s voiceover tells us ’this isn’t a manhunt, it’s an invasion’ to show us the gravity of the ‘war on drugs’ in America. The trailer is set to Styx’s ‘Renegade’ which complements the grave and chilling tone set for the season. The second season of the show picks up where the first left off, with Pablo under house arrest; and Holbrook’s voice over warns us “Pablo is never more dangerous than when you’ve almost got him”. Which means that we will be seeing more of Wagner Moura’s award-winning portrayal as Pablo Escobar, coupled with more gunfire and violence dominating the series. With the first season garnering more viewership than the fifth season of Game of Thrones, we have high hopes from the second season:
The new trailer for the second season of Narcos dwells deeper into America’s war on drugs.
