Nagarjuna to produce Ram Gopal Varma's next with Akhil Akkineni; RGV says 'it's an intense, realistic action film'
On Tuesday, Ram Gopal Varma surprised everyone with a series of tweets stating Nagarjuna will be producing the director’s new film starring Akhil Akkineni,

Twenty nine years back, Nagarjuna produced and acted in Ram Gopal Varma’s debut crime drama Shiva, a pathbreaking action film in Tollywood. The film also enjoyed similar box office success with its Tamil dubbed version.
Later, Ram Gopal Varma and Nagarjuna joined hands in films like Antham, Drohi, Govinda Govinda and they are also working together on an upcoming action film titled Officer.
On Tuesday, Ram Gopal Varma surprised everyone with a series of tweets stating Nagarjuna will be producing the director’s new film starring Akhil Akkineni, younger son of the Telugu superstar. The Rangeela filmmaker also revealed that his film with Akhil Akkineni will be an intense, realistic action film with heavy violence quotient and strong romance as a backdrop.
Hey @iamnagarjuna I want to be honest, even if u will beat me with a cycle chain. I really think @AkhilAkkineni8 has a better voice, better style, better demeanour and many other few things better than what u had when u were doing #Shiva

Hey @iamnagarjuna ,inspite of all the positives I am hoping to take care of @AkhilAkkineni8 ‘s few deficiencies as a director and much more than that I am really hoping that u will take care of my directorial deficiencies as a producer the way u so took care of them in #Shiva — Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) March 27, 2018
The @AkhilAkkineni8 film am making is a very highly intense and extremely realistic action film and not at all a young cute love story..it’s a very hard love story at its core but emotionally packaged with a very high degree of sensitive violence mixed with tremendous love

Ram Gopal Varma is known for his penchant for realistic violence and action sequences. Comparing their upcoming film with Shiva, Ram Gopal Verma says “Nagarjuna, I want to be honest, even if you beat me with a cycle chain. I really think Akhil has a better voice, better style, better demeanor and many other things than what you had when you were doing Shiva”.
Though Akhil had a grand launch with the magnum opus Akhil, directed by VV Nayak, the film was a box office dud. Akhil’s second film Hello fetched positive reviews but it was a disaster because of the exorbitant budget.
“Nagarjuna wants to establish a strong base for his son Akhil. In fact, the Manmadhudu actor asked Manam director Vikram Kumar to pen a script for Akhil and produced Hello. Ram Gopal Varma narrated the script of this new film to Nagarjuna on the sets of Officer and the actor thinks that the project would give the much-needed action hero image for Akhil”, says a source close to the team.
Meanwhile, Akhil has just announced his third film with Tholiprema director Venky. Sources say that Venky-Akhil's film is a romantic drama and it will be bankrolled by BVSN Prasad. Once Akhil completes Venky’s film and Ram Gopal Varma wraps up the shoot of Officer, the new project will begin.
