Nach Baliye 8: Divyanka Tripathi-Vivek Dahiya win with fan votes; Abigail-Sanam are first runners-up
The finale of Nach Baliye 8 was filled with memorable moments, such as Abigal's proposal to Sanam, and Divyanka-Vivek's win
Amid a lot of excitement, anxiety and tense nerves, Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya were announced the winners of Nach Baliye 8. The couple, who reached the finale after a lot of broken bones and injuries, couldn’t curtail their excitement while holding the trophy. Sanam Johar and Abigail Pande were the first runners-up, while Sanaya Irani-Mohit Sehgal became the second runners-up. Television actress Divyanka’s massive fan following ensured that she won the trophy, and the couple said that there was no better anniversary gift than this.
The second half of Nach Baliye 8's grand finale was highly entertaining. After Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor entertained viewers in the previous episode, Ranbir Kapoor regaled all with his charm and persona in this one. The evening started with Ranbir dancing to 'Galti Se Mistake' from his upcoming film, Jagga Jasoos. He talked about how special the dance reality show is to him, since he has been on it every season. He surprised everyone by opening up about his relationship, and said that he has been dating his girlfriend for a long time. After creating a lot of suspense, Anurag Basu, the director of the film, made an entry. The show began with Sanam and Abigail’s performance.
The judges and Ranbir Kapoor complimented their performance. Terence Lewis said, “I am proud to see both of you perform. You have raised the standards of the show. If you win, I win.” Ranbir added, “I have never seen this level of performance. Sanam, you are a professional dancer, but Abigail, you are also too good.” Sonakshi felt that the couple complemented each other in their journey of both dance, as well as love.
Abigail, who revealed that Sanam doesn’t find her romantic, announced that she has a romantic surprise for Sanam, and host Karan Tacker got a tray of gifts for him. She gave Sanam a rose with a note which said that they’ll always take care of each other and make a beautiful home for themselves. The second rose with the note read promises that she’ll always be his strength and will support him. The third one said that they will always be friends first and will take time out for each other. The next and the final one said that she will always be there for him and his mother, which made Sanam extremely emotional and teary-eyed. Just then, to everyone's surprise, Abigail got down on one knee and proposed to Sanam. Everybody was amused when Sanam said, “Officially, I’m a girl.” The audience clapped and congratulate the couple for their engagement. This was certainly the most memorable moment of the finale.
Next, Sonakshi Sinha gave an energetic performance. Karan played a video of fans asking Ranbir when he will get married. Karan then asked him to charm the finalists. Ranbir, who believes that flirting is good for health, flirted with Divyanka and uses one of the lines from his film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. He said to Divyanka, "Tumhari jaisi ladki flirting ke liye nahi, ishq ke liye bani hai." Divyanka blushed and said that anyone will be floored by him.
He told Abigail that he loves her a lot and that it hurts him that she is engaged to Sanam. He pulled off his famous heartbreak scene from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Ranbir and Sanaya danced to 'Balam Pichkari' from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, and the other finalists joined them. Karan then called Sonakshi on stage and Ranbir told her that he wants to have a dance face-off with Mohit Suri- Anurag Basu in one team and him and Sonakshi in the other. They dance to Sonakshi’s popular number, 'Go Go Go Govinda'. Ranbir, Mohit and Anurag then performed to the song, 'Jabse Tere Naina', complete with the famous towel drop scene, from the actor’s debut film, Saawariyaa.
Next, stand-up comedian Bharti Singh took over the stage and provided some comic relief along with Karan. Right from the beginning of the season, there has been a little joke about Karan wanting to marry Sonakshi. He called her mother, Poonam Sinha, on stage to give her suggestion. Poonam jokingly told Karan that he should not have high hopes. Poonam also revealed that her love story is similar to Siddharth Jadhav’s. She talked about how Shatrughan Sinha fell in love with her when they met on a train for the first time. Poonam confessed that she wants someone as handsome as Ranbir, as loving as Shoaib Ibrahim, as fearful of his wife as Mohit Suri, and someone with Sanam's smile, for Sonakshi.
Ranbir and Anurag took their leave from the episode, but there's more entertainment left with two of the previous Nach Baliye winner-couples – Jay Bhanushali-Mahi and Aamir Ali-Sanjeeda making an appearance. They performed to 'Tamma Tamma', and all three finalists joined them on the dance floor. Sanjeeda said, “I am feeling nostalgic, and I also feel as if I am competing again.” Jay added, with a laugh, “I can understand what the finalists are going through at this moment. In the last one-two hours, each of the finalists start suspecting each other. They feel that the other person knows the result. Each finalist also wonders why the other person is so sweet. We stop trusting even our spouses.”
Soon after, Jay realised that the golden envelope with the results was with him and he handed it over to Sonakshi, who announced the results of season 8 of Nach Baliye.
