2010’s much acclaimed drama My Name Is Khan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol released today nine years ago. On the occasion, director Karan Johar took to social media and acknowledged everyone’s contribution to the film.
Soon after Karan’s tweet, Varun Dhawan (who used to assist Karan on the film along with Siddharth Malhotra) also shared a pictures taken on the sets. My Name Is Khan was released after much anticipation and controversies. In 2010, Shah Rukh Khan had favoured the inclusion of Pakistani cricketers in the Indian Premiere League. His decision didn’t go down well with the Shiv Sena. The party demanded a ban on the film and even threatened to stall the release. However, the film was released amid tight security and went on to become a hit. Apart from the strong drama quotient and praise-worthy performances, the film also marked the return of the hit pair of Kajol and SRK on screen after a long gap.
