Mubarakan, Indu Sarkar box office report: Anees Bazmee's film races ahead of Madhur Bhandarkar's

This Friday saw two films - Mubarakan and Indu Sarkar clash at the box-office. Mubarakan, with an ensemble cast consisting of Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Athiya Shetty and Ileana D’Cruz was expected to leave a mark. Indu Sarkar, too, with its long battle with the CBFC and numerous controversies, was touted to shake things up. However, both films have had a tepid opening.

As per koimoi.com , Mubarakan could only garner Rs. 5.50 crore at the box-office. The film which has Arjun in a double role was expected to do well among masses.

Although, bogged down by a sluggish start, things could start looking up for this Anees Bazmee potboiler, since it is largely a family entertainer and could witness a rise in numbers during the weekend. The film was released in 2,50 screens in India and 475 screens overseas.

Indu Sarkar, a film against the backdrop of the 1975 Emergency, only managed a meager Rs. 1.42 crore at the box-office, as per koimoi.com . The film has Kirti Kulhari in the lead and Neil Nitin Mukesh, Supriya Vinod and Tota Roy Chowdhury in pivotal roles.

The poor performance of the film at the box-office is also being attributed to the cancellation of a lot of its shows due to opposition by political forces. Indu Sarkar needs a push to get back in the game.
